Herzebrock, April 10, 2017 – The jury has made its decision: After several days of evaluating thousands of products from all around the world, we received the Red Dot award for our Bentano model. With Bentano, our company “created an outstanding design”, which was recognised with the internationally coveted quality seal by the expert panel of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017.
We are especially proud that our Bentano model – created by designer Sabine Bischof – is already receiving its second award. Not only has our design strategy been internationally distinguished with the Iconic Award 2016, but now also with the Red Dot Award 2017.
Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the Red Dot Award: »The Red Dot winners have the correct design strategy. They recognise that good design and economic success go hand in hand. This award from the discriminating Red Dot jury documents their high standard of design quality and is directive of their successful design policy.«
The importance of the international design competition »Red Dot Award: Product Design« with headquarters in Essen is firmly established internationally. The first jury gathered more than 60 years ago to evaluate the best designs of that time. Since then, a team of experts awards the quality seal for good design and innovation to the most outstanding designs of the year.
Again in 2017, award organizers called for manufacturers and designers around the globe to submit their products. The jury – made up of roughly 40 independent designers, design professors and specialised journalists – tested, discussed and evaluated every single product and awarded: the Honourable Mention for a well thought-out detailed solution, the Red Dot for high design quality, and the Red Dot: Best of the Best for ground-breaking design. This year, the competition saw more than 5,500 entries from 54 nations.
On July 3, 2017 the culmination of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 takes place in Essen. During the »Red Dot Gala« awards ceremony the Red Dot: Best of the Best winners receive their trophies. At the subsequent »Designers’ Night« after party, the winners celebrate amidst all the award-winning products in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen – and the Red Dot winners receive their well-deserved award certificates. Within the framework of the world’s largest show of contemporary design, the special exhibition »Design on Stage« presents the award-winning products of the year for five weeks.
The Red Dot Design Yearbook 2017/2018 is also published on July 3rd. The international reference work for award-winning design introduces all the winning products of the year. The products are also presented on the Internet, particularly in the online presentation, the Red Dot App and at Design Platform Red Dot 21.
